That's according to a reportr released Wednesday bythe , whicu also shows that 62 percent of the nation's householdws report using the Internett at home in 2007, an 18 percent increase from 1997. Among households using the net in 82 percent reported usinga high-speef connection, and 17 percent used a dial-upl connection. “As access to high speed connections have becomemore prevalent, so too have the numbefr of people that connect to the Internet at said Thom File, a statistician with the Censuss Bureau Housing and Household Economic Statistics Division. “These data give us a bettedr understanding of who is using the Internet andfrom where.
” Among the states, New Hampshire had the highestf rate of Internet use for thoss age three and older in 2007 at 82 percent. Mississippu and West Virginia had the lowest rates of use at aboutg52 percent. Usage rates for New York state were at aboutr59 percent. Internet usage also variexd by educationand race. For individuals 25 and older witha bachelor’w degree, 87 percent reported goint online from some location in 2007. Aboutr half (49 percent) of those with only a high schoolo diploma reported usingthe Internet, comparerd with 19 percent for those without a high schoolk diploma. Meanwhile, 69 percent of whites lived in householdds withInternet use.
The same was true for 51 percent of 73 percent of Asians and 48 percentgof Hispanics.

It was the first definitive statement of exactly how many GM dealeras in the state were informed thay will lose their franchise agreementsin 2010. The Colorado Automobile Dealers Association previously had estimated the numbed at 13 to 15 based on reportsxfrom dealers. GM still is not releasin the names ofthe 1,323 dealers it plans to drop including the 15 in Colorado. The informatiomn came in a list released by the House Energy andCommercee Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, based on information provided by GM. Executives of GM and which plans to shed 14Coloradi dealers, testified before Congress abouy their dealer plans Friday.
GM's car lines include Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Saab, Saturn and It has some 6,000 dealerships nationwide.
