President and CEO Bob M. Taylor told PBN on Wednesday that the job cuts represent 2 percentg ofthe company’s approximately 600 employees and were neede d to slow production in the stagnant economy. “It’s just a slighg adjustment to our work force due to the economid situation and the decreasezs in number of visitorse so we want to reduce ourinventorhy somewhat,” he said. Taylor said the company stilo plans to open two new stores in Waikiki over the next four monthsw which will create about a dozen new job openingx in salesand management.
A new concept storde called Maui Divers Jewelry Luxury Collectio n will open atthe newly-renovated in late Marcj and another Maui Divers store will open at the Sheraton Waikiki in June.
