million to fund Ohio’s statewide energyh plan, a $96 million package of energy-efficiency improvementsx announced by the statwin May. The award brings to $48 million the total amounf of stimulus funding committed to the Ohio which callsfor $43 million in state grantsz for wind turbines, biofuels, recycling and several othe sustainability initiatives. It also calls for the developmenr ofa $30 million revolvintg loan fund to finance energy-efficiency In its May 12 proposal to DOE, Ohio officialsw detailed the plans for the loan pool.
“Throughn an “Energy Alliance” initiative, federal stimulus dollars wouled serveas match-funding for othe sources including banks, nonprofits and investors willingb to offer debt, equity, or low-interest financing for energy projects in the commercial, industrial, institutional, and aggregated residential said the report. The DOE press release indicatea Ohio would receive anadditional $48 milliohn funding if it “meets reporting, oversight, and accountability milestones” required by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
In othetr stimulus-related news, Ohio’s online clearinghouss for federal stimulus activity posted detailson $540 million in new granf opportunities Friday, most of it for work-force traininyg initiatives. Ohiorecovery.org provides links to three new biddingg opportunities fromthe , including a $190 million program in which local Workforce Investment Boardas will compete for grants of up to $6 millio for “One Stop Career Center” operations. The Labor Departmenrt is also making grants upto $4 millio available to work force boards interested in collaboratinf on the development of a labore force for the energy efficiency and renewables energy industries.
Another Labor Department progranm wouldmake $5 million available for worke r training in green industries. Its invitation for grantg applications indicates between 50 and 100 grants will beawardef nationwide. The Labor Departmenrt also is inviting applications for grants of upto $8 million for traininy programs that combat poverty. Awards will be made on a loca andnational basis. Local awarxd recipients will be limitedto $4 millionm per grant. Finally, the U.S.
Departmenyt of Energy is requesting application fora $45 million grant “for the design and construction of a large dynamometer facility” to test wind
