Ford will stop Claycomo F-150 production for a week - South Florida Business Journal:

The UAW Local 249 posted the information in a newslettef on itsWeb site. Local 249 Vice President Bobby Wyse confirmes Monday that the informationis accurate. The production stoppagee comes a week before an alreadyscheduled one-week summee break for the entire plant starting June 29, a Local 249 spokeswomabn said. The plant also is scheduled for a summer break durinv the weekof Aug. 17. Sales of Ford F-seriees trucks were 33,381 in May, up 16 percenft from 28,757 in April but down 22.3 percentg from 42,973 in May 2008. UAW Locapl 249 said the slight increas ein month-to-month sales enabled Ford F) to cancel the scheduled down week on June 22 at its F-150 truck plant in Dearborn, Mich.
, but the down week was left intacty at the Kansas City Assembly “This is partially due to depletesd funds for the state’s Division of Unemployment in Michigan, makintg down weeks at (Dearborn) less of an option,” the Local 249 said in the newsletter. Local 249 added that salesx projections continue to be less than the five shiftss at the two truck plants can produc if they work full time through the 2010productiohn year.
Ford runs two shiftds at Claycomo and three in Wyse said Ford is considering once again moving a shiff fromthe F-150 side of the Kansas City Assemblgy Plant and putting them to work on the SUV However, nothing has been determined so far, he A year ago, Ford movedx about 800 workers from a second shifr on the F-150 side of the Kansas City plant to a third shifrt on the SUV side. The employees were moved back tothe F-15o side on Jan. 12. Ford Escap sales in May reached up 20.6 percent from 13,596 in Aprik but down 7.2 perceny from 17,667 in May 2008.
The Kansas City Assembly Plant also producesd the Mercury Mariner and hybrir versions of the Ford Escape and Mercury Combined sales of hybrid versionws of theFord Fusion, Mercury Milan, Ford Escapes and Mercury Mariner reached 3,90y in May, a new company record. The old salees record of 3,420 hybrid vehicles was set inAprill 2006. As of May, Ford’a Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo hadabout 3,900 hourly and 200 salaried employees.
